Testing our stone effect paint is a crucial part of choosing your perfect colour and finish. Here’s our recommendations for getting the best out of your sample pots:
PAINT ONTO PAPER, CARD OR BOARD
We recommend painting a piece of sturdy card, lining paper or board (no smaller than A5) in your chosen stone colour and finish. If you are testing more than one colour, we recommend writing the colour and finish on the back so you don’t mix them up later.
APPLICATION
Shake or stir you pot well before use. Apply the recommended 3 coats of Stonelux to ensure you get an even coverage and full depth of colour to your samples.
For the most accurate representation of how your finished stone project will appear, we recommend using the same application method for both your samples and your final project (ie. brush, roller, spray).
CONSIDER YOUR LIGHTING CONDITIONS
Changes in natural and artificial light affect how colours appear, so ensure you view the samples through the day as the difference can be quite significant. We recommend viewing the samples at multiple times throughout the day for at least a day or two.
TEST COLOURS IN MORE THAN ONE LOCATION
To ensure a true representation of the stone finish, you can also move your sample to different locations. For example, if you are painting the windowsills on your house, make sure you view the samples at the front, back and side of your house.
