Great paint. Easy to apply. Terracotta is a perfect colour.

All good only I would say to double check primer colour when you order.

    Fireplace makeover

At face value, immediately following application it looks stunning. I am however nervous to find the paint chipped very easily after an accidental knock with the Hoover nozzle, revealing the original surface. I've touched it up and it looks okay. I plan to leave another review once enough time has passed to judge properly following normal wear and tear. Fingers crossed! Paint and tools: -1inch & 4inch natural bristle brush -Foam roller -Grey primer -Simply stone limestone (mantle piece) -Smooth stone black pearl (hearth and surround) Original surface: -Mahogany -Yellow marble effect stone Method: -Sanded both surfaces with a hand held electric sander and sand papered crevices manually - Hoovered well to remove dust - Washed surfaces with warm water and sponge, left for a couple hours, hoovered again - Applied 2 coats grey primer to each surface using the brushes, left a day in between applications and hooveex well before each coat - Applied 2 coats of the stone paint to each surface using the brushes , left a day in between applications and hoovered well before each coat - For the 3rd coat I used a sponge roller. For the limestone paint I dabbed everywhere with the brush afterwards as it didn't look right, probably because it was a more textured paint than the black pearl. - I touched up both surfaces the next day, not quite a 4th coat but close enough. Tips: Cover adjoining surfaces : Masking tape is not enough!!! The textured paint in particular splashes as it's applied, especially when. Applied with the brush. It's particularly hard to remove from walls or freshly painted surfaces without damaging the paint. I had just painted the hearth and surround and the wall behind. I'd recommend attaching a few sheets of newspaper or cardboard to the nearby surfaces, walls and floors to avoid damaging them when applying the paint . I used yellow frog tape to secure everything making sure the paint wouldn't lift. Clean as you go: - Hoover the area well before each application to avoid dust or hair sticking to the paint Keep your pors clean: - Clean the lid and rim of the paint tub after each use. The paint builds up and hardens quickly around the rim, as a result the lid will not click into place, if you leave it like this , you risk air getting in and your paint hardening. If you notice this happening, to avoid wastage, scrape as much paint from the lid into the pot as possible. Rinse the lid under warm water until it is entirely clean. Use something suitable to scrape any paint from the crevices around the rim of the pot (I used a chopstick) and clean using the corner of a wet cloth. Make sure the pot is this clean after each use. Also when mixing the paint before application, stir the paint rather than shaking the tub and this will go a long way to preventing build up. -Clean splatters as they occur: Immediately after each application look for paint splatters on adjoining surfaces, these are much easier to remove while wet than when hardened. -Keep your brushes clean: Rinse your brushes out well after each use and allow to air dry ready for use the next day

    Stonelux Paints

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we're really pleased to hear you're happy with the initial finish! It sounds like your preparation was really thorough, which is great to see. Water-based coatings, including ours, dry quickly to the touch but take 7 to 14 days to fully cure and reach maximum durability. During this time, they can be more susceptible to knocks and scuffs. From the details you've provided, and given that your latest order was received just a few days ago, it’s likely that the paint hasn’t had enough time to fully harden yet. Once the full curing period has passed, you should find it much more resistant to everyday wear and tear. We really appreciate your feedback, and if you have any questions or need any further advice, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, we’d be happy to help! Best regards, Stonelux Customer Care Team

    Excellent paint...

I was trying to colour match on a 'Chatsworth' fireplace. On line the limestone looked spot on! I had to add quite a bit of white pigment, but I got three...😁

I love my new fireplace now it’s stone instead of wood, 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of limestone, so easy and the difference is incredible it’s like a new fireplace

    All good

The paints are excellent as long as you layer the coats as per instructions using the primer first! I use them on dolls houses and they are long lasting and still look good after years since application.
