Company Profile

Procter Cast Stone is a trusted supplier specialising cast stone products. They are known for their high-quality materials and precise manufacturing processes, ensuring the long-term integrity and aesthetics of their projects.  They also offer a full turnkey installation service, alongside stone and brick aftercare services.

The Challenge

Procter Cast Stone were approached by a long-standing customer to address ink staining on brickwork caused by an accidental spillage on site.

The staining occurred after an on-site operative knocked over a bucket of ink while on scaffolding, which soaked into the bricks below. Traditional cleaning methods proved ineffective against the deep stains. The goal was to restore the brickwork to its original appearance without compromising on durability and aesthetic quality.

The Solution

After consulting with Procter Cast Stone, it became clear that a brick tint would not be suitable for this project, as tints are translucent and would not hide the staining. We instead recommended Stonelux Brick Coating. Procter Cast Stone sent a brick from the site to our Colour Matching Team, who created a custom colour in the Brick Coating.

Once on site, the team began applying the coating but noticed variations in the stock bricks' colours, with some bricks being lighter than the sample which had been sent for matching. They returned to us for advice, and we recommended using Stonelux Pigments to alter the colour of the Brick Coating slightly to achieve the required colour variations.

To match the stock bricks’ shading, they used Stonelux’s Brick Tint in Black. They applied it in a random pattern across the coated bricks to match the originals.

The Results

The brickwork was successfully restored to its original condition, with the ink stains completely covered.

The use of the custom colour-matched Brick Coating, Stonelux Pigments, and Brick Tint ensured that the repaired bricks were indistinguishable from the original ones. The project was completed efficiently, overcoming the challenge of colour variations among the bricks on site.
