Stonelux paint
Service from the company was great but I was very disappointed with the coverage of the paint.
Stonelux Paints
Thank you for your feedback, and we’re pleased to hear that you were happy with the service you received from our team. Regarding the coverage of the paint, we’d like to clarify that our products are paints, not fillers. This means that any significant imperfections in the substrate, such as divots or damage, will remain visible unless they are repaired as part of the surface preparation before painting. For the best finish, we recommend repairing any surface damage prior to application, as paint alone will not smooth over large imperfections. We appreciate your review and are always here to assist if you need any further guidance for future projects. Best regards, The Stonelux Team
Excellent product and professional service
This is the best paint we have ever used. Excellent coverage and it looks amazing.
Brilliant
I painted my very dirty stained stone fire place & guess what?? Yes looked brand new. I 1st started using Stonelux 3 years ago and on my second tin. Just get 3 sample pots to test and go for it.
Great effect
Transformed the garden pots I used it on , gave them a new lease of life
It really does have the look and feel of real stone
I'm super impressed with this. It really does have the look and feel of real stone and has a really beautiful finish. I chose the Antique effect that has not only texture but also visible quartz sparkles on the surface. (Will upload some photos if I can work out how, though I'm not sure they do it justice.) My 100yr old fireplace is impressive in size but was sadly damaged and discoloured; even after stripping off all the old paint it looked just awful. It now has a new lease of life, it's smart and modern but still with that heritage feel. This product is easy to apply if you follow the instructions - allowing the primer to cure is the longest part. I used a roller for the primer coats; it covered the soot stains very well. For the paint I brushed that on and then stippled it. I used the stonelux brushes, they're perfect for the job and good value. You do need the 3 coats minimum of the paint to get the colour depth and to allow the stone effect to build up. It is worth putting (even) more coats on to get the finish you want. Initially it looks like thin paint with bits of sand, but as the layers go on the paint disappears and you're left with stone. This is a really clever product. You do also need to let it fully dry (like 12 - 24 hrs) for the colour to develop properly. I tried out a few different colours: out of the tin and mixed a couple of my own by adding pigments. (I changed my mind a few times (from white, to pale grey, to dark grey ... but I love that you can also buy pigment to adapt / make your own colours.) The finished version uses Lamport (a beige with grey undertones already) and I used black pigment to darken it and make it greyer. (The pigment doesn't change the finish, the stone flecks are still just as visible.) The result is something in-between a grey and a brown (a dark oatmeal). I wanted a tonal match to the bricks in the inglenook. Really pleased with it. From having tried out a few options I can say the paler colours show the darker stone flecks more whilst the darker colours highlight the quartz sparkles more (using the antique finish). Mine is a large fireplace (c 180 x 180cm) so opted for the 2.5L tin, had plenty left over. Not cheap if compared to an average tin of emulsion or gloss, but the finish with this product is far superior and therefore to me it's worth the money. Everyone who's seen it is very impressed. I would absolutely recommend this and would absolutely use it again. HD, in Northumberland
