Used in the past without problems, given the price you expect quality and good customer service, sadly this time around I received a bad batch of paint. I contacted stonelux which said they will get back within 24 hours regarding the issue and it has been a week with no reply. Won’t be using again, 4th time around and will warn others of the customer service or lack of it.
Good quality product. Easy to apply and produces a nice finish. Would recommend.
Not good. Our fire surround had three coats applied on top of two coats of primer. The result was streaky so I telephoned the company for advice. They forwarded a cheap brush which they recommended and I was told that the problem was that my husband was a painter and decorator.! Apparently he was applying the paint on the fire surround incorrectly. After another application the result being just the same, we bought a tin of Johnson’s vinyl flat emulsion and after two coats, we were perfectly happy with the results. The photograph below is the finished surround using the Johnsons Vinyl.
Dear Sandra As advised on Friday, there are only 3 causes of a patchy finish (1) the incorrect brush being used, (2) not enough paint has been applied and (3) over brushing. We established that your husband had been using an incorrect brush and offered to send you, free of charge, additional paint and a couple of the brushes that we recommend for application, so you could achieve a better finish. You are right when you say that the brushes are cheap, but as explained, they are ideal for applying Stonelux paints, as the cheaper brushes have fewer bristles, which means they are less likely to clog with the natural stone in the paint, making application much easier. We have tried and tested many brushes over the last 15 years, and natural bristled economy brushes are the best for the job. Unfortunately, your husband refused to accept the additional paint, but you asked us to forward the brushes, which we did. We are sorry that you did not achieve the high quality finish that we expect from our paints, and can confirm, that if the instructions on the tin had been followed, the finished surround would not have been patchy/streaky. I hope this goes some way to explaining why you encountered the problems that you did, but if you would like to discuss matters further, please do not hesitate to contact us. Kind regards, Stonelux
Wow I was so amazed at how good this paint is . I painted over my marble fireplace with 2 coats of primer and 4 coats of limestone sand effect paint and it looks beautiful. It is easy to use and the delivery was fast . Very happy with this product and would highly recommend.
